Do you suddenly have a crescent moon icon at the top of your iPhone? The crescent moon is a “do not disturb” feature that ensures you are not disturbed at inappropriate times. However, not many people use this feature. In this guide, you can read more about what the crescent moon is and how to remove it.
What is ‘do not disturb’? (crescent moon)
The ‘Do Not Disturb’ feature is a smart, but not very well known or used, feature. The beauty of this feature is that you can make sure your iPhone doesn’t ring or “disturb” you at times when you don’t want to be disturbed – such as at school, at the movies, at work, etc.
You can even preset your iPhone to not disturb at certain times – for example, at night while you sleep (e.g. between 23:00 and 7:00). This is done via your phone’s settings (Settings > Notifications > Do Not Disturb > Turn on ‘Scheduled’).
How to disable ‘do not disturb’
The ‘Do Not Disturb’ feature (the crescent moon) can be disabled as follows:
- Open the Control Center by sliding (dragging) your finger from the bottom of the screen to the top
- Tap the moon icon (black indicates that the Do Not Disturb feature is inactive – white indicates that it is active)
Alternatively, you can also enable or disable the feature via your phone’s general settings (Settings > Do not disturb > Turn on/off).
