In this guide you will find information on how to delete cookies in Google’s Chrome browser.
The guide goes through 2 methods to remove cookies in Chrome:
- Method 1: Hotkeys
- Method 2: The menu in Chrome
Deleting individual cookies (rather than all cookies) can only be done via method 2.
In Google Chrome you can delete all cookies in several ways – the two most simple ones are listed below. Please note that some cookies can only be deleted via method 2:
Method 1: Hotkeys
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete on your keyboard
- The ‘Clear browsing data’ menu will open automatically. Here, the checkmark must be set in the Delete cookies and other website and plugin data field. Some of the other fields (Clear browsing history, Clear download, history, Clear cache, etc.) are probably checked beforehand and you can select or deselect these depending on what data you want to delete or keep
- Click the Clear browsing data button (at the bottom of the image above). All your cookies are now deleted from Chrome!
Here you will find a short walkthrough on how to delete cookies in Chrome via the toolbar menu (after the short walkthrough there is a longer and more detailed explanation of the same procedure):
- Click on the toolbar menu in Chrome
- Select Settings from the menu
- Click Show advanced settings at the bottom of the menu
- Click the Content settings button under the ‘Privacy’ section
- Click the All cookies and website data button
- Click the Remove all button (Note: You can also delete individual cookies by clicking the X on the right side of each cookie). Your cookies are now deleted in Chrome!
If the above instructions are not detailed enough, here is a more detailed version:
- Click the menu in the top right corner of Chrome
- Click the Settings item in the menu
- Scroll down to the bottom of the menu and click Show advanced settings
- Click the Content settings button under the ‘Privacy’ section
- Click the All cookies and website data button
- Click the Remove all button to remove all cookies. If you only want to remove individual cookies, this can be done by clicking the X next to each cookie (on the right side of the list)
Your cookies are now removed from Chrome!
For information on adjusting the other settings (blocking, exceptions, etc.) for cookies in Chrome, please refer to Google’s own cookie instructions.
